Luiza Eskridge was born on July 11, 1929 to Will Ratliff ' and Velma Eskridge Ratliff in Duck Hill, MS.
Luiza was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Verne Eskridge on November 12, 1948, and to this union nine children were born. Luiza moved to Lockport, IL in 1951, where she became a beloved mother/ grandmother to the community. Luiza was very family oriented, and loved cooking, fishing, and gardening: Luiza accepted Christ at an early age, and later became a faithful member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Lockport, IL under the leadership of Reverend Richard House.
Luiza is preceded in death by her husband Verne Eskridge, Three children: Larry Wayne Eskridge, Mary Louise Gant,and Darnell Eskridge, One grandson, Vincent Eskridge, One great grandson, Richard Dennis Gant III, five sisters, Ellen Irene, Odessa, Emma Jean, Mary, and Willie Mae. Two brothers, James Earl and Houston and a special goddaughter Joann Love. Luiza passed away peacefully in her home on March 27,2021 surrounded by family. She leaves to cherish her beautiful memories, her children, Diane Sims (Eddie Lee), William Eskridge, Pamela Freeman Gorman (Eugene/Chuck), Verne Eskridge Jr., Anthony Eskridge, and Syrenthia Eskridge. Two Honorary sons and grandsons, Richard Dennis Gant Jr. (Theresa) and Durando Eskridge all of Joliet, Illinois. A honorary daughter Shirley "Cookie" Clements of Elgin, IL One sister, Beatrice Terry of Louisville,; KY and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Luiza also leaves to cherish a special Caregiver Rhonda Skalak
