Harold Reeder, 77, of Shorewood, Illinois, died January 6, 2022. Harold is survived by his wife
Arthetta (Cook) Reeder of 52 years; his children Sharon (David) Alexander, Harold Anthony
(deceased), Gregory, and Jessica (Nicholas) Roubissoff; grandchildren Taylor and Shaun
Alexander, Micah Puckett-Reeder, and Evelyn and Genevieve Roubissoff. His siblings, Donel
White (Virgie, deceased) of Georgia, Amelia (Millie) Alford of Texas, Helen Jean Davis of
Arkansas, Larry Davis of Virginia, Dwight Wimper of Virginia, Valerie Whimper of Illinois. His
nieces and nephews, Stephen, Ferol, Kenny, Cletus, Rodney (deceased), Stephanie, Veronica,
Bernard, Lawrence, Steven, Kevin, Larry Jr., Nikita, Sinecar, Shavita and Shannick, many of
them he became a second father to in his role as coach, teacher, and family patriarch. His
Godchildren, Myisha (Steve) Carter and Corbin Moffett. His father-in-law, Donald Hudson and
grandchild’s mother, Tiffany Puckett. Harold obtained his bachelor’s degree at the HBCU,
Philander Smith College in Little Rock, Arkansas. He became a member of Omega Psi Phi
Fraternity Pi Sigma chapter in 1965. His career in teaching began at Mounds Meridian School in
Mounds, Illinois. He then came to the Joliet area and continued his educational profession in the
Joliet Public School District where he remained until his retirement in 2009. Harold was an
active member of the Stone City Masonic Lodge of Joliet where he served as the Worshipful
Master.= He was a Master Mason and had received his 33rd degree. Harold will be fondly
remembered by family and friends as a loving father, distinguished educator, coach, and faithful
servant. Visitation will be held from 4 P.M. until 7 P.M. on Friday, January 14th and Saturday,
January 15th from 8:30 A.M. until 9 A.M. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 1710 Carey Street, Joliet,
Illinois. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 15th at 9 A.M at Mt. Olive Baptist
Church.
