Ferdinand Augustus Range III, age 80, of Joliet, Illinois, passed on January 24th, 2024. Born in Joliet on September 11th, 1943, to Ferdinand Augustus Range II and Willie Bessie (Ragland) Range.
His parents founded the Range Funeral Home in 1934.
After the death of his father in 1958, his mother operated the Range Funeral Home in Joliet until he was able to join her in the business. An active pillar of his community, Ferdinand was a member of the Joliet branch of the NAACP, Former Deputy Fire Commissioner with the City of Joliet, and a 32nd Degree Mason with the Western Consistory #28, Chicago, Illinois.
He was a firm believer in helping his fellow man and imparted his wisdom and humor to many.
Preceded in death by his loving parents, Ferdinand and Willie. He is survived by his two sons, Eliot (Jade) Range, Anton (Kirbi) Range; Four grandchildren: Austin Jeffery Range, Kelis Patricia Range, David Alexander Range, and James William Range; sister Patricia Range (Saburo) Setoguchi; Cousins, Augustus Cage Jr., Jane Bertch, Mark Kromwell, Moly Bertch, Warren Barker, Walter (Bobbie) Barker, Miles Barker, Harry Vincent Irby, James Courtland Irby, Traci Donyale (Craig) Phillips, Marsha Miles, Natalie (Stephen) Brown, and Devoted Companion Debra Betts.
Friday, February 2, 2024, Visitation: 4:00 – 7:00 pm at Second Baptist church.
