CLARENCE DACE Obituary

Born April 23, 1935  Died  January 25, 2024

The steps of a righteous man are ordered by the Lord (Psalm 37:23)

Clarence Paul Dace was born April 23, 1935 in Laurel, Mississippi and was the sixth child of Mary Ann McCann and Horace Dace. Clarence attended school in the Quitman School District prior to moving North for better opportunities. In 1972 he met and married Eva Mae Woods. To this union two children were born - Sandra (died in infancy) and Clarence, Jr.

Clarence was a very hard worker who provided for his family. He was a loyal employee of Chicago Title and Trust Company for 32 years before retiring in 2000. Although he spent a considerable amount of time working, his passion was singing the Gospel. Clarence was a proud member of several Gospel music groups. The Gospel Chariots, Kings of Harmony, International Kings, and Will Terry & the Sounds of Joy, to name a few.

The only thing he loved more than his groups was his church. Clarence was a faithful member of Holy Cross Baptist Church – joining under the leadership of the late Rev. Thigpen and continuing under the service of Rev. Victor Flowers until his health failed.

Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one daughter, one brother, and five sisters.

He leaves to cherish his memory a son – Clarence, Jr., One brother Willie Mason (Laurel, MS) four brothers-in-law, four sisters-in-law, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends.
